Volumes
1 to 57 (1952 - 2009)
The Cumulative Index for the American
Journal of Comparative Law covers volumes 1 to 56 for the years
1952 to 2008. You may search this Index by author name (first or
last name), article
title (use any one key word), book reviewed and the book's author
(but
search under the entry "Title"), volume number, article start page, or
year. You may also search the special quadrennial supplement
volumes published
by the Journal beginning in 1978 (U.S. national reports to the
International Congress of Comparative Law) in the same manner.
Results will have
the word Supp. and the volume number in the author column. Book
Notices, Books Received, and Bulletins have not been indexed.
Search Hints:
The most effective search is to enter all or part of one word in
only
one field, although you may enter information in more than one field if
you
retrieve too many articles. If you want a book author's name for
a
book reviewed, enter the first or last name in the Title field.
The
reviewer's name is in the the Author field. The most
effective
way to survey the many articles in the quadrennial supplement volumes
is
to type Supp in the author field. If you want to narrow your
search
of a supplement volume, enter only the volume number in the author
field.
(The volume numbers are 26, 30, 34, 38, 42, 46, 50, and 54 for
the years
1978, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006). If you are
not sure
of the spelling of a name or foreign word, enter as much of the word as
you
know without use of * or ! or other universal
symbols.
Foreign words or names should be tried with and without diacritics,
since
the search engine distinguishes, e.g., a "u" from a "ü" or a "ue."
This is a work in progress. There are some

Society's Executive Assistant at the University
of
Connecticut School of Law. Professor David S. Clark
originally created this database in the 1990s to assist Journal
users to more easily find articles by author or title word search
before the era of electronic journal archives. Ramakrishna S. Addanki
debugged and improved this search engine and worked on the first
version of the database up to the year 2000. María del Carmen Vivar
Aguirre and Alexandre
de Paula Oliveira subsequently improved the database's accuracy and
added information up
to 2002. The Society was indebted to Willamette University for
supporting
this
project. The Index is currently maintained by Blanche M. Capilos.
